Product description
Product description
Handmade notebook in traditional lokta paper, made in Nepal. This distinctive paper is obtained from the inner bark of the daphne shrub, which grows at altitude in the Himalayas.
Lokta paper is known for its exceptional durability and its lightly textured surface. That gives every book a quality feel and makes it a small one-off.
On the cover sits a real dried leaf, which makes every notebook a natural eye-catcher. The ribbon-and-button closure keeps the book securely shut, while the built-in ribbon bookmark helps you find your page again quickly.
Ideal as a diary, travel journal, sketchbook, or a gift for people who value natural materials and traditional craft.

How lokta is harvested
The lokta shrub is not felled. It is cut a little way above the rootstock and shoots again from there – after about four to six years the same plant can be harvested once more. Only the inner bark is used: it is peeled off, boiled and pounded into pulp.
How it is made
Every notebook is made by hand in a small workshop in Nepal, from the paper through to the binding.
With your purchase you support traditional craft and fair work opportunities.
