What felting actually is
Felt is neither woven nor knitted. Wool is laid down in thin layers, dampened with warm water and soap, and rubbed until the tiny scales on the wool fibres hook into one another. After that it cannot be undone. It is the oldest known way of making cloth from wool – older than weaving.
