Gheri Fabric Boho Multicolour | Handwoven Cotton Fabric from Nepal

Red, brown and yellow sit close together, with pale stripes and yellow diamond bands on black in between. The warmest of the colourful fabrics – plenty of colour, but no cool tones.

What it suits
A fabric that still reads as patterned even in small cuts. The fabric is firm and holds its shape, so bags, cushion covers and table runners keep their form.

– 50 cm for small projects such as bags or cushions
– from 100 cm for clothing or larger sewing projects

How Gheri is made
Gheri is woven on handlooms. Before any weaving can start, the warp threads have to be drawn and tensioned one by one – that alone takes hours. The stripes are not printed on; they come from the arrangement of coloured yarns in the loom. That is why the pattern sits in the fabric rather than on it, and why the reverse is just as colourful as the front.
