Fabric description
Fabric description
Narrow bands in lime, violet, red, turquoise and white on a dark ground, with white zigzag motifs in between. Not a gradient but many distinct stripes side by side – hence the name.
What it suits
A fabric for projects where colour is allowed to take the lead. The fabric is firm and holds its shape, so bags, cushion covers and table runners keep their form.
Tips on how much to order
– 50 cm for small projects such as bags or cushions
– from 100 cm for clothing or larger sewing projects
Multiple units are supplied as one continuous piece.

How Gheri is made
Gheri is woven on handlooms. Before any weaving can start, the warp threads have to be drawn and tensioned one by one – that alone takes hours. The stripes are not printed on; they come from the arrangement of coloured yarns in the loom. That is why the pattern sits in the fabric rather than on it, and why the reverse is just as colourful as the front.
With your purchase you support small workshops in Nepal and help keep traditional craft and fair working conditions alive.
