Lokta paper is made from the bark of the Himalayan daphne shrub and is known for its tough structure and natural look. Every box is made by hand in Nepal, which makes it a small one-off.

Slight irregularities in the paper are a sign of traditional handwork and are part of what gives the material its character.

How the paper is made
The pulp is mixed with water and poured onto a cloth-covered wooden frame, spread evenly, and then the whole frame is set out in the sun. So the drying happens outdoors, not in machines. That is why thickness and texture vary slightly from sheet to sheet – not a fault but the method.

The boxes are made, glued and printed in small workshops in Nepal.
