Why felt lasts so long
In felting, the wool fibres interlock permanently – there are no seams to come undone and no stitches to ladder. A felt pendant will therefore survive twenty Christmases in a box and come out looking as it did at the start. Wool also barely takes on smells and does not shed dust.
