Lokta Paper A4 | Handmade / Natural White

Handmade lokta paper in A4 format, made traditionally in Nepal from the bark of the lokta shrub. The paper has a naturally fine texture and a character all of its own – every sheet is a one-off.

At the same time the edges are cleanly trimmed, so the paper is ideal for printing, cards, creative projects or paper work.

You can choose between two paper weights, depending on the project.

Paper weights:

40 gsm – light and flexible
This version is thin and versatile, for example for:

– printing (depending on your printer, best to test one sheet first)
– letters, journaling and notes
– inserts, envelopes or collage
– origami and fine paper work

150 gsm – sturdy and substantial
This version is considerably firmer and particularly suited to:

– postcards and greetings cards
– invitations
– covers, envelopes or signs
– mixed media and DIY projects

A note on a natural product
Small differences in texture, shade or thickness are normal and are what give handmade paper its character.

A note on printing
Best to test with one sheet first, choose "thick paper" or "specialty paper" in the print dialogue, and feed sheets individually on sensitive printers.

A paper without a tree
Lokta is not a wood paper. It comes from the bark of a shrub that shoots again after cutting – nothing is felled. In Nepal it grows wild at altitudes where farming is barely possible, and the harvest is an important source of income for many mountain villages during the winter months.

How it is made
Formed by hand, dried in the sun and then trimmed cleanly to A4.
