Scent & Effect
Scent & Effect
Opium as an incense stick – deep and spicy.
About the name, first of all
There is no opium in it. No poppy, nothing of the sort. In the world of fragrance, ‘opium’ is a name for a direction – heavy, dark, spicy-sweet – made popular by famous perfumes. What is actually in these sticks is mugwort and frankincense resin.
Where the scent comes from
Mugwort, also sold as black sage, is one of the oldest incense plants there is and belongs to the genus Artemisia, along with wormwood and tarragon. Frankincense is resin, obtained from the scored bark of the boswellia tree. The combination of herbaceous and resinous gives the dark note.
When it suits
In the evening and in winter. One of the strongest scents in the shop – in small rooms half a stick is enough.
