Where the name comes from
Om is regarded as the primordial syllable: the sound from which, in Hindu thought, everything else proceeds. Spoken, it consists of three parts that flow into one another and end in a resonance. You find the sign everywhere in Nepal – above temple entrances, on prayer flags, on the walls of houses.

Where the scent comes from
Red sandalwood is not botanically related to the white kind and was used for centuries mainly as a dye – for textiles and for the tilaka mark on the forehead. Alongside it comes the rupkeshar blossom, a local Nepalese plant traditionally used there in incense blends.

When it suits
For meditation and mantra practice, and for evenings when the room should feel warm and quiet.
