Where the name comes from
Both terms are frequently misunderstood in the West. A mantra is a syllable or formula spoken repeatedly – not for its meaning, but for the sound and the repetition. Tantra denotes an entire current of texts and practices in Hinduism and Buddhism, centred on ritual, mantras and meditation. Most of it has little to do with what is sold under the word in the West.

Where the scent comes from
Holy basil, tulsi, stands in the courtyard of many Hindu households and is honoured daily. Amber supplies the warm, soft counterpart.

When it suits
For meditation and mantra practice, in the evening, on quiet days.
