How the blossom impression is made
The pattern is not painted on but pressed into the clay while it is still soft, before it dries and goes into the kiln. So it is not a print that could wear off but part of the form itself. How deep the impression turns out depends on how damp the clay was at the moment of pressing – slightly different with every piece.
