Scent & Effect

Tibetan dhoops in twelve varieties – the largest choice in the shop. Each pack contains one variety.

The twelve varieties
Juniper · sandalwood · Nag Champa · amber · frankincense · agarwood · lemongrass · dragon's blood · green tea · spikenard · saal dhoop · white lotus.

Where they come from
Dhoop is the Tibetan and Nepalese form of incense and considerably older than the thin bamboo stick, which came from India. In monasteries and mountain villages incense is still burned this way: solidly pressed herbs, resins and woods, with no carrier material. The name is there in the Nepali word for juniper too, ‘dhupi’.

What makes dhoops different
Thicker than classic sticks, about 55 minutes of burning time, stronger in scent – but without the smoky side note of burning bamboo.

When they suit
For trying things out, if you do not yet know which direction is yours. Twelve varieties is enough to find it.
