Scent & Effect

Lemongrass as an incense stick – fresh and citrus.

Where the scent comes from
Lemongrass is not a citrus plant but a tropical grass. In Nepal it grows in the lower regions, the Terai, and belongs there in the kitchen as much as in incense. The lemony scent sits in the long leaves; for the sticks they are dried and ground. That it smells of lemon without being related to one comes down to an aroma compound the two plants happen to share.

When it suits
In the morning and through the first half of the day. When a room has been shut up for a while. And in summer, when heavy resin scents would be too much – lemongrass is one of the lightest scents in the shop.
