Scent & Effect
Scent & Effect
Citronella as an incense stick – lemony and fresh.
Where the scent comes from
Citronella is a tropical grass and a close relative of lemongrass – both belong to the genus Cymbopogon, both smell lemony without being related to lemons at all. It is grown mainly in Sri Lanka, Indonesia and India. For incense, the seeds and the oil extracted from the leaves are used. The scent is a little sharper and greener than that of lemongrass.
When it suits
On summer evenings, on the balcony, in rooms that have been shut up for a while. Citronella is one of the freshest scents in the shop – good when heavy resins would be too much.
