Where the scent comes from
Dragon's blood is a deep red resin obtained from the fruit of certain rattan palms in Southeast Asia. The name comes from the colour: freshly harvested, it really does look like clotted blood. For centuries it was used less for burning than for dyeing – among other things in the varnish of stringed instruments. As incense it is dense and resinous, without the sweetness of frankincense.

When it suits
In the evening and for rituals. Dragon's blood is one of the stronger scents in the shop – in small rooms, better half a stick and plenty of fresh air.
