Handmade notebook in traditional lokta paper, decorated with real dried leaves. Every book is a small one-off, combining natural materials with traditional handwork from Nepal.

The lokta paper is made from the inner bark of the daphne shrub, which grows at altitude in the Himalayas. It is especially long-lasting, lightly textured and feels pleasantly natural to write on.

The cover is worked with real leaves and closes with a natural cord and wooden stick fastening – a fine detail that gives the notebook its particular character.

Ideal as a diary, sketchbook, travel journal, or a gift for people who value natural materials and traditional craft.

A paper made to last
For centuries, deeds, contracts and Buddhist scriptures in Nepal were written on lokta paper – for one simple reason: it survives. Surviving lokta manuscripts are several hundred years old. Until quite recently, official documents in Nepal were drawn up on this paper.

How it is made
The paper is formed by hand, the sheets are dried in the sun on wooden frames, then bound by hand.
