Why bicycle inner tubes
Rubber is one of those materials that can hardly be recycled in any sensible way – burnt it releases pollutants, in landfill it stays for decades. In Kathmandu, where bicycles and motorbikes are the main means of transport, a great deal of it accumulates. As a bag material the inner tube has two advantages: it is practically indestructible and naturally water-repellent.

How it is made
Cut and sewn by hand in a small workshop in Nepal, combined with embroidered fabric.
