Where the scent comes from
The Himalayan cedar carries the Sanskrit name ‘devadaru’, tree of the gods. It grows in the western Himalayas at altitudes between roughly 1,500 and 3,200 metres and has been used there for centuries for temples and house building – the wood is considered particularly durable. The scent sits in the oil of the heartwood. For incense, sawdust and wood flour are used, which is to say what comes off the timber anyway.

When it suits
For working, when you want a plain scent in the room. In winter. And for anyone who finds sweet or floral scents too much – cedarwood is the driest in the shop.
