Scent & Effect
Scent & Effect
Cinnamon as an incense stick – sweetish and warm.
Where the scent comes from
Cinnamon is bark. More precisely: the inner layer of bark of the cinnamon tree, lifted off in narrow strips. As it dries it curls up by itself into the familiar quills – that curling happens on its own, purely through shrinking. The trees grow in South and Southeast Asia; after harvest they sprout again from the stump, so the same plant can be harvested for years.
When it suits
From October to January, in the run-up to Christmas, on cold afternoons. Cinnamon is one of the few incense scents with a clear season – in high summer it quickly feels heavy.
